Despite my extensive knowledge of modern Freemasonry, I was both surprised and intrigued to uncover its true origins, reaching back even further than the Knights Templar. Your research, and disucssions like this, clearly uncover the fact that our historical narratives are constructed and often shaped by those faceless individuals in power. Another enjoyable discussion - thanks Phoenician Hunter!

There are additional reasons behind the ‘initiations’.

The initiations are a test but they also have the same effect of providing fodder for blackmail and binding the initiate to silence for the benefit of control. Similar to the secret service - or joining the mafia or a street gang.

It could be argued that Freemasons control the world, and the world is a hot mess.
